We are not hearing this on CNN

Today as I listened to the Hugh Hewitt Show, and Hugh read the August 25, 2005 entry of blogger and reporter Michael Yon, one of the most moving and inspiring stories that I have heard from Iraq.

You can watch CNN, and other mainstream media, and never hear stories like this one.

The summer is coming to a close

August 24, 2005-Tomorrow I will be returning to school to prepare for the upcoming school year...so today I made one last trip into Los Angeles to visit the Petersen Automotive Museum. The Petersen is one the best Automotive Museums in the country, and is home to some amazing machinery. I especially enjoyed the Snake and Mongoose cars, as they brought back an awful lot of memories...I saw them race on numerous occasions at OCIR and was always a Tom McEwen fan. The display of cars from Heads of States was impressive, and included the Popemobile, Eisenhower's limosine, and the incredible Bugatti that was given to the Shah of Iran as a wedding present (Elisa and I received some nice gifts...but no Bugatti).

Another Sidetrip

Elisa and I ventured down to the LA County Museum of Art to see the King Tut exhibit. Sorry for the lack of pictures, but they were incredibly tight on any cameras (even camera phones). The display was quite impressive....too many people (and not enough deodorant), and just amazing antiquities. There is something about looking at an intricate handmade chair that was built in about 1300 BCE....

After viewing the exhibit we wandered over to the main museum, where we looked at early Central and South American antiquities, and attempted to see the Greek and Roman antiquities, but that section of the museum had closed earlier. It was then off to the La Brea Tarpits...where we strolled around the park, and generally took in the cool weather...and all of the green.

Next was dinner at Pink's in Hollywood. For dinner I had a Chili Dog, and a Chili and Kraut Dog, some fries, a Peach soda, and a Dr. Brown's Root Beer....and a tagamet.
